The least-densely populated country in the world is Greenland. The population density of Greenland is only 0.03 people per square kilometre. Greenland has been inhabited for over 4500 years by the native people from Canada and other Scandinavian countries.

2 Falkland Island

Falkland Island is a territory under UK jurisdiction and is the 2nd least densely populated territory on earth. The population density of the Falkland Island is only 0.21 people per square kilometre. It is very beautiful place and is a breeding ground for a variety of birds.

3 Pitcairn Islands

The Pitcairn Islands is one of the most remote inhabitant locations on earth. The Pitcairn Islands is located in the far south pacific. It consists of four volcanic islands. It is inhabited with the population of 56 and it has a population density of 1.19 people per square kilometre.

4 Mangolia

Mangolia is the country which is mainly known for Genghis khan and for some of the breeds of horses in the world. It is also one of the least densely populated countries in the world. It has a population density of 1.92 people per square kilometre.

5 Namibia

Namibia's uninhabited areas are very different from the other South-American countries with the Namibian Deserts; dry soil takes up a large part of the country. It has a population density of 2.56 people per square kilometer. The climate in Namibia is very hot and droughts are very common here.

French Guiana is located on the north east coast of south America and comes on the sixth position in the ranking of the least-densely populated countries in the world. French Guiana is technically a part of France and the European Union. The currency of French Guiana is euro. The population density of French Guiana is 2.56 people per square kilometre.

7 Australia

Australia is a country and a continent surrounded by the Indian and The pacific ocean. Australia is one of the largest countries in the world but it also has one of the least-dense populations in the world. It has a population density of 3.09 people per square kilometre.

8 Iceland

Iceland is one of the most isolated places on earth. Its low population density is due to its natural wonders. There are many volcanoes, geysers, sand, and lava fields in Iceland. Lots of travellers come to Iceland for its natural beauty. It has a population density of 3.15 people per square kilometre.

9 Suriname

Suriname is a tiny country on the north eastern cost of South America. It has a population of 540,000 with the population density of  3.26 inhabitants per square kilometre.

10 Mauritania

Mauritania is officially known as the Islamic republic of Mauritania. 90% of the total area of Mauritania is occupied by desserts. Around 4,200,000 is the population of Mauritania with a population density of 3.36 people per square kilometre.
